Hi everyone,
Here is a good FAQ about new Melvyl: http://www.cdlib.org/services/d2d/melvyl/Melvyl_FAQ.html. This has been helpful for several faculty questions at the desk. One noted glitch is that you can't (for now anyway) set up a new Worldcat profile while logged in through OCA. So if someone is off campus and wants to set up a profile, they'll need to do that before logging in, or log out and set up the profile, and then log back into OCA. And if asked, the new Melvyl/Worldcat profile does not save information for Request. So each time someone places a Request, they must type in all of their information.
Best,
Laura

New format for My ILL Requests
Hi everyone,
There is a new look to "My ILL Requests" when patrons log in. If they don't click on the small "Show everything" box in the upper left-hand side of the screen, at the top of their list, then they will not see items that have not yet been shipped. So if you are helping anyone in the Ask A Librarian RT or at the desk, keep that in mind if they say none of their requests are displaying (or things are missing) and they've logged in correctly.
Thanks, Laura

OCA certificate/"untrusted site" problem
If you are getting calls about "untrusted site" errors from people trying to access OCA, we are working on a permanent solution. In the meantime, people at the reference desk should tell patrons they two choices:
- you can click through and add the exception (there is no security risk)
or
- the patron can download the new root CA http://certs.ipsca.com/Support/hierarchy-ipsca.asp

New online form for Spec Coll NRLF items
Thanks to Sue Perry Special Collections now has an online form that patrons can use to request Spec Coll books and other materials stored at NRLF. The form can be found here: http://library.ucsc.edu/speccoll/special-collections-nrlf-request-form and is also linked from our Access to Collections page (http://library.ucsc.edu/speccoll/access-to-collections) .
Feedback on the form and instructions would be appreciated.
As always, patrons can contact me directly about requesting ASK AT SPECCOLL books without using the form.
-Luisa
